Vale Jim "Jimbo" Murrihy

01 June 2020
It is with great sadness that we advise the passing of Jim "Jimbo" Murrihy.

A legend and Life Member of both The Chelsea Football Club and The Chelsea Cricket Club, Jimbo lost his final battle with Cancer and passed away this day.

A stalwart of both Clubs for many years, Jimbo could always be relied upon, whether manning the Can Bar over Footy Season or Cleaning the Club Rooms or whatever else he may be asked to help out with, he was always there. He will be sadly missed.

Jimbo's spent time on The Committees of both Clubs, but his real sporting prowess was Cricket a game at which he excelled. The Chelsea Cricket Club Player of The Year is named in honour of James "Jimbo" Murrihy.

"Jimbo" moved to Chelsea in 1974 and has held almost every position at the Cricket Club over the last 45 + years. At the Boxing Day Test of 2009, Jimbo marched on the MCG as a reward for his volunteer services to The Chelsea Cricket Club.

We offer our sincere condolences to Jim's wife Audrey and to his family, farewell to a great Chelsea man.

R.I.P. "Jimbo"
