CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB - HOME OF THE SEAGULLS

CHELSEA GRIT

2000 - CHELSEA RELEGATED

Chelsea, relegated? No, couldn’t happen! Unheard of! You’ve gotta be joking!”, exclaimed the old timers. The shock started to set in. The great club had just finished stone motherless last on the ladder and was headed to a lower grade of  football and it could be a long road back. Everyone knew how hard it was to win a premiership at any level and there were some very good sides in the District grade. The old foes Seaford had been languishing there since bottoming out in 1996 and would certainly still be keen to return to their rightful position in the premier competition.

There were basically two ways of handling this unprecedented experience, spit the dummy and accept the mediocrity that had infiltrated the organisation, or take a pro-active approach and set about retrieving the situation.
Fortunately the prime movers behind the club set about rectifying the situation with gusto. Summoned back to the club by desperate committee members, long time trouble shooter Ray Stuart took over the presidency and he was determined to sort out the problems wherever they lay and whoever they involved.
