CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB - HOME OF THE SEAGULLS

CHELSEA GRIT

2007 - JAN MILDENHALL

JAN MILDENHALL

Like so many woman who have become entrenched in the football club, Jan made her entrance through the canteen where she served for many years. However, possessing exceptional skills in administration, she acted as Secretary in 1996, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2011. It was a role that she carried out with great efficiency for three years before standing down to attend to family needs. A non-spectator, Jan is content to deal with the behind-the-scenes business that underpins any successful club.
Jan and husband ‘Tarz’ are very active fund raisers. Bingo is their mode of operation as they manage four sessions each week, all for the benefit of the club.
A silent achiever with a long club connection, Jan wistfully remembers house parties that were run in the fifties, occasions where it became traditional for Frank Parsons to stand up towards the end of the night and give a lengthy speech. Also in keeping with the Chelsea spirit was a party-ending fight that would bring proceedings to a close. All would be forgotten and forgiven the next day over a couple of ‘heart starters.’
Jan’s main motivation for supporting the organisation is the role that it plays in giving young men the opportunity to develop solid values on which to base their lives.
