Chelsea Under 16’s premiership success in 1955 is memorable for many things, not the least of which was the debut game of a small thirteen year old boy who played on the forward flank. The lad impressed everyone with his clever and precise ball handling. He already looked to be a star in the making, even at this young age.
But football life didn’t prove to be kind to ‘Tecka.’ Injuries plagued him over the next decade, limiting his opportunities as the Seagulls won a string of flags without him.
Always the optimist, and inspired by his love of the game, he persisted until finally, in 1968, he broke through to share that treasured premiership. It is worth noting that Terry had, by this stage, resorted to wearing a steel brace around his waist to protect his kidney area from damage. There was no way that he would be prevented from playing the game he loved.
Objective achieved, Terry continued playing for another couple of years and added a reserves flag to his  list of achievements. This gave him a unique record of having played in premiership teams at three different levels for his beloved Seagulls.
