The Federal League’s best ruckman of the fifties, Kevin was a key player in leading Chelsea’s improving fortunes during that time.

Tall and heavily built, Kevin held the upper hand over most opponents in ruck contests. Once in position he was almost impossible to move and would provide his rovers with a wonderful supply of opportunities. With three club awards and the 1957 Federal best and fairest Kevin was one of the League’s elite players.

It’s worth noting that the Federal award was won on count back from, soon to be famous, Barry ‘Hooker’ Harrison. It was only one year later when ’Hooker’ played a significant role in Collingwood’s famous 1958 premiership. His close and effective tagging of the dangerous Demon skipper Ron Barassi was critical to Collingwood’s success.
