Message from Chelsea FNC President

In consultation with the football department we have made the decision to cancel the football practice match that was scheduled for tomorrow 14th March at Assumption college Kilmore.

With the ever evolving  status and uncertainty of what is correct protocol to manage the risks of Coronavirus in a community sporting club environment, the decision was made to cancel the day in the interests of player safety and welfare.

We briefly spoke to the netball group last night at training with the key points being hygiene and drinking only from your own drink bottle as main points from the AFL communication received yesterday.

We will be discussing the situation prior to Tuesdays training session with the football group with any additional knowledge gained to be also shared.

I saw on FB a post from Melbourne FC that showed a briefing to players, i have shared this on the Chelsea FB page I thought it was a simple explanation on what to do and don't do from a players perspective.

As a club we will be holding a culture and goal setting session next Thursday at the club as a combined football & Netball group, again let’s see what happens over the coming days with direction on group events etc.

In regards to next weeks practice matches v Bonbeach to be held at Chelsea, it will be a watch and act based on direction that I am sure will flow down from the AFL over the coming days.

I would rather sit on the side of caution at this point than compromise the wellbeing of any member of our community.
